V. Garth Norman, ARCON, Inc. Archaeologist, Archaeo-Astronomer–Director & Principal Investigator. (Archaeo-astronomy is one of many sub-disciplines of archaeology for analyzing relationships of prehistoric cultural remains with astronomical observations.) Norman is best known for his pioneering research of the early or pre-Mayan Izapa Sculpture.

Parowan Gap Archaeological Project, Preservation Enhancement (1993-2004). Major project with federal and private funding under contract with Parowan City and Iron County. Conducted archaeological preservation-enhancement study of the famous Parowan Gap petroglyph site. Emphasized archaeology and archaeo-astronomy investigations of petroglyphs and related sites.

Izapa Sculpture (Published 1976) Leading authority in iconographic research of Izapan (early Maya) culture, Southern Mexico. Research Associate with Brigham Young University New World Archaeological Foundation (NWAF – 1965-1976).

Archaeo-Astronomy of Izapan Temple Center, Izapa, Mexico (BYU -1982).Demonstrates astronomical orientations of pyramidal mounds and stone monuments to sun, moon, star cycle azimuths on eastern mountain horizons.

ARCON, Inc. Director, Principal Investigator and Archaeologist Consultant (1982-present). Authored numerous reports for over 30 years of professional archaeological research experience and cultural resource contract work in the Intermountain West. Extensive prehistoric rock art research in Utah since 1978.

Manager, Principal Investigator, and Consultant for cultural resource evaluations for government contracts with Minority Enterprise Service Associates (MESA) Corp. (1980-82) Authored numerous archaeological research papers and reports.

Indian Area Education Coordinator in northern Nevada (1965-1967) and Navajo Reservation (Arizona and New Mexico– 1968-1976.)
